ROZET DE FOLMON, Jean-Pierre (1745-1825) - Lot 259
ROZET DE FOLMON, Jean-Pierre (1745-1825) French politician and administrator, former deputy for Haute-Garonne, president of the council of Her Serene Highness Madame la duchesse douairière d'Orléans. L.A.S. addressed to "Monseigneur", Paris, March 22, 1815. 2 folio pages, brown ink, very fine handwriting, text perfectly legible. Important letter written in the context of Napoleon's return, concerning the situation of the Dowager Duchess of Orleans. The author explains that he has been asked, on behalf of the princess, to address His Serene Highness in order to : "to make known her painful position and to designate what would be appropriate to alleviate it". and to convey to His Majesty the Princess's thanks and requests. The text explicitly mentions : "His Majesty the Emperor and King". as well as Duke Charles de Plaisance, and is part of the early days of the Cent-Jours. A highly interesting historical piece, combining court correspondence, politics and the imperial context.
