"Alfred Porché" to a lady and "Alfred" to his brother. S.l., Friday s.d., and Paris, July 17 [1916]; altogether 3 pages in-12, one letter on wove paper headed "Ministère de la Guerre". INTERESTING COLLECTION OF FAMILY LETTERS TO FRANÇOIS PORCHÉ. Léontine Porché, the poet's mother, follows his work very closely and does not hesitate to make acerbic comments: "...One of your poems saddened me greatly, the few verses addressed to your sister are not kind, and is it these little foibles that you expose to the public, you should have kept them in the fraternal shadow..." And the devoted mother laments: "...I search in vain for my François of yesteryear, I can no longer find him!..." She also asks for news of the play he has just completed, Les Butors et la Furette, to be performed in November 1917. She also gives news of everyone and makes sure that François takes some for himself. And in a long letter, she links François to his estranged wife, Katia (Catherine Gaidoukoff). Alfred, the poet's brother, returns to the poem in which their sister is implicated. She "...does not forgive that you consider her a narrow Catholic and especially that you have said so, our poor sister believes she has pushed back the boundaries of liberalism, because she will have declared that Madame Belle [?], for example, "was a good person, albeit a Protestant"...". Otherwise, he received the large paper of "Nous" [Paris, Cahiers de la quinzaine, 1914, 2nd ed.: NRF, 1916], which makes a magnificent volume... Another letter from Alfred is addressed to a lady and mentions François. Attached to this set are 3 letters from F. Lacombe to the son of his friend François Porché, concerning the work the latter was working on when he died.
