GAUTIER, Jean-Jacques (1908-1986) - Lot 154
GAUTIER, Jean-Jacques (1908-1986) French writer, drama critic and columnist. Theater critic for Figaro, member of the Académie française. L.A.S. signed "J. J. Gautier", Paris, August 7, 1950. 1 page 1/2 small in-8, on wove paper with the printed letterhead of Le Figaro, 14 rond-point des Champs-Élysées. Interesting letter concerning the organization of a literary conference / talk. Gautier asks his correspondent whether negotiations have been successful, and enquires about contacts made with several leading figures in French theater: Marcel Achard, Pierre Fresnay, Pierre Bertin and Pierre Dux. He then specifies several dates when he will be unavailable (Lyon, Paris, Chauny, Antwerp, Roubaix), and indicates that he sees no other possibility than December or the course of March. Nice piece on the milieu of the theater and French dramatic criticism under the IVᵉ République.
