DUVERNOIS (Henri). - Lot 145
DUVERNOIS (Henri). Born in Paris. 1875-1937. French writer, screenwriter and playwright. L.A.S. "Henri Duvernois" to "Cher ami". Antibes, August 3. 1 p. in-8. La Marguerite" letterhead. It states: "... I have just telegraphed my secretary to bring the serial to Brun. As I obviously have corrections to make, I've asked for sheets, which I'll get back by return. That way we won't have wasted any time... He believes that ... La Poule well launched at the beginning of 7br can be successful. It's a more composed, more "public" book than my others. I've looked after it as best I can. But I don't care about the press as much as Colin-Tampon. We'll see if we need to do a service when I get back on September 28. We'll look into it together; I'll be fine without it. Unless you have the Hydrangea Sisters. It would be better to reserve the effort of these memoirs for the unpublished novel I intend to prepare for you in the autumn...". Henri Duvernois began his career as a secretary at the Bibliothèque Charpentier, and went on to work as a journalist for various newspapers and magazines of the day. On the advice of writer Catulle Mendès, he began his career as an author. In 1931, his novels - originally two operettas - La Poule and Les Sœurs Hortensias were published by Grasset. He maintained many friendships with illustrious artists (Colette, Guillaume Apollinaire, Sacha Guitry...). "Placard" is a printed document with blank columns for annotations.
