CHAZAL (Jean-Pierre). Born in Pont-Saint-Esprit (Gard). 1766-1840. French politician. Conventionnel. Member of the Comité de Salut Public and the Conseil des Cinq-Cents. Prefect and Baron of the Empire. Exiled in January 1816. L.A. "J.P. Chazal" to Bascle de la Grèze, President of the Chamber of the Royal Court of Pau. Brussels, September 29, 1829. 1 p. in-4. Address and postmarks. Exiled to Brussels, Chazal is preparing to sell his Mondénard property, where he and his wife are now reunited with members of his family. He earnestly hopes that his correspondent will visit them, so that he can meet his lawyer, "the best friend of my misfortunes! You (...) would together make the price of Mondénard if it would suit you, or the King your uncle whose attorney you are," continues Chazal. All I need is 50, even 40,000 fr. in the short term. I'd be obliged to keep the remainder of the price at 5 percent for as long as you like...".
