BANVILLE (Théodore de). - Lot 57
BANVILLE (Théodore de). Born in Moulins (Allier). 1823-1891. French poet and playwright. L.A.S. "Th. de Banville" to "Cher ami". Paris, November 12, 1876. 2/3 p. in-8 on mourning paper. Théodore de Banville announces that, in view of ... the many projected premieres this week, the day of Deidamia could not yet be fixed... He thinks ... it will certainly be Tuesday or Wednesday; but I do not know which. Duquesnel doesn't know either, because he wishes to avoid encounters with other theaters... The author apologizes for not being able to inform his correspondent better. Théodore de Banville's heroic comedy in three acts and verse, Deidamia, premiered on November 18, 1876 at the Théâtre National de l'Odéon, directed by Félix Duquesnel (1832-1915).
