AUDIBERTI (Jacques). - Lot 35
AUDIBERTI (Jacques). Born in Antibes. 1899-1965. Writer, poet and playwright. L.A.S. "Jacques Audiberti" to "Chère Geneviève", center incomplete. Neuilly sur Seine, January 4, 1951. 2 pp. in-4. Letter decorated with an original drawing in black ink depicting a large bird and a hunter. In this letter, alas incomplete of its central part, Audiberti thanks his host: ...I want you to know how admirable I found your hospitality, this warm sumptuous house immersed in a universe of monsters and enigmas, all the camaraderie and kindness you gave me. Thank you so much! What I don't understand is the importance you attach to "Carnage", and also to my character. It seems to me that nobody is nobody. Each of us (...) is just one aspect of a whole that surrounds and transcends him... After the missing part, Audiberti warns that he has not ...seen André Marchand [1907-1997, painter and lithographer of the New School of Paris] again... and adds ...I'm trying to work. I'm much less neurasthenic. The good effect of the Chapelle is undoubtedly now being felt... He concludes ...Receive, amie Geneviève, my affectionate thought and all the black butterflies that your snow has killed and that you will scatter in silence...
