Andy SWEET (1953-1982) - Lot 166
Andy SWEET (1953-1982) Miami Beach, the Misses Fine art print 80 x 80 cm. Enhanced white frame, museum glass Before the modern image of Miami popularized by "Miami Vice" and the Spring Breaks, South Beach was home to the largest Jewish retirement community in the United States. Attracted by the climate, cost of living and local culture, many former New Yorkers settled here permanently in the 1970s, forming an elderly, predominantly Jewish population. Photographers Gary Monroe and Andy Sweet have documented this community, now extinct after the upheavals of the 1980s.
