ARMAN (1928-2005) - Lot 75
ARMAN (1928-2005) Pile of Venus, 1999 Accumulation of scale models of Venus de Milo, created in 1996 Green patina bronze Signed and justified One of 99 numbered copies 41.5 x 17 cm. Publication: Durand Ruel, Moreau, ARMAN, Catalogue raisonné, Multiples, Vol. 3, 2016, pp. 102-104, no. 44 "Tas de Vénus" comes from a monumental project envisioned by Industries du plastique at the retrospective designed by Tita Reut "Chimériques Polymères", MAMAC (Nice) in 1996. The prototype, on the scale of our bronze, was made in resin by Arman, but when the commission was aborted, the artist decided to make a pyramid-shaped sculpture and produce multiples. Our sculpture brings into play two of Arman's favorite procedures: the Accumulation and the Cutting of the subject, brought together in an astonishing lightness. (Source: T.R.) Viewing by appointment at Cabinet Marc Ottavi, 12 Rue Rossini, 75009 Paris.
