ARMAN (1928-2005) - Lot 72
ARMAN (1928-2005) Nok head (longitudinal section), 2002 Bronze with golden-brown patina Original copy. Signed and justified. One of 8 numbered copies + 4 EA H. 61 cm. Arman's series of African bronzes is the result of a project conceived in 2002 as a tribute to Tita Reut's research into his work. The various elements making up the sculptures were chosen from his prestigious personal collection (spoons, pulleys, Nok head), cast in bronze and assembled according to his own strategies: Accumulation, Cutting, Transculpture (insertion of heterogeneous elements into an object). Here we find, in excellence, the synthesis of the techniques he invented for his work, and which he constantly renewed, and his faithful adherence to the arts of archaic, traditional and eternal Africa. (Source: T.R., E.D.Nice catalog, 2009) Viewing by appointment at Cabinet Marc Ottavi, 12 Rue Rossini, 75009 Paris.
